The Open and Affirming Committee shares that the Open and Affirming Coalition of the UCC has accepted our covenant. This means that we are church #1894 within the UCC family to create a covenant in support of the LGBTQ+ community and all marginalized people. The process of discernment (questioning, listening, hearing, voting) was led by Lorene Beach. Lorene has been stalwart in organizing and focusing the efforts of the ONA committee and in communicating with church members, the UCC, and our greater community.
Almost all of the committee’s work is done, but it will reconvene before the annual meeting. At that time the committee will draw up a proposal for how and what this new chapter looks like in the life of our church and in our church family.
